Adoption
| NEW ADOPTION PROGRAM |
|
The OHS is introducing a new hosta adoption program for members using seedlings as the adopted plants. When you receive your seedling, you will grow it in your garden for three years. Once the three year period is complete, the plant will be split into two or three divisions. One division is for you to keep while the second/third divisions will be donated by the OHS to a community garden, offered for sale at the annual OHS auction, or introduced as an OHS Club Plant. In order to monitor the progress of the seedlings, a picture of your adopted hosta is to be submitted to the OHS Adoption Program Coordinator before July 30 of each year. You can submit pictures via e-mail or in person at OHS events. The pictures may be used in various slideshows, presentations or newsletters. This is an annual program so you may adopt one plant each year. The OHS will have an Adopted Seedling Contest when the seedlings are returned. The “adoptive parent” of the winning seedling will win a prize (free plant, gift certificate, etc). If you are interested in adopting an OHS seedling or would like to donate seedlings, please contact the Adoption Program Coordinator, Vanessa Chaborek, through the 'Contact' section on this website. **Please note: Upon signing up for the adoption program, you agree that the originator of the seedling reserves all rights to the plant. The plants are not to be propagated or distributed in any way. |
